The ARRIVAL ~ A Christmas Devotional - Day 13

John 16:33 – “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Let’s be real: the Christmas season can feel anything but peaceful. Between the shopping, the never-ending to-do lists, the family gatherings, and the pressure to get everything just right, it’s easy to feel completely unsettled. Honestly, life, in general, often feels like one big chaotic mess. But here’s the good news from John 16:33: Jesus offers us a PEACE that cuts through all the craziness.

Jesus didn’t sugarcoat life. He told us straight up: trouble is coming. We will face disappointments, heartaches, and difficult seasons. But then He gives us hope: “Take heart! I have overcome the world.” Jesus never promised a trouble-free life. What He promised was PEACE in the middle of it all, because He’s already won. His victory becomes our PEACE. And the best part? This PEACE doesn’t depend on what’s happening around us. It’s all about His constant, unshakable presence with us, no matter the circumstances.

How Can We Be Peacemakers Today?

Experience PEACE with God - Before we can share PEACE with others, we first need to experience PEACE with God. We can’t give what we don’t have, right? Spend time with God each day. Pray. Reflect. Let Him calm your heart and bring PEACE to your mind. The more we experience His PEACE the more we’ll be able to pass it on to others.

Bring PEACE to Relationships - As followers of Jesus, we’re called to be peacemakers in a world full of conflict. This means stepping in to heal divisions, forgiving others, and taking the first step toward mending broken relationships. Peacemaking isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it. Humility and grace go a long way in bringing healing to relationships and the healing is felt by everyone involved.

Never Underestimate the Power of Prayer - Prayer is powerful! Take time to pray for peace, whether in your home, your community, your country, or the world. Ask God to bring His Kingdom here, to let His will be done, and to let PEACE reign. Prayer is a direct line to God, and He hears our prayers for PEACE.

Here’s the thing: Jesus’ PEACE isn’t about avoiding trouble. It’s about His presence and strength right in the middle of it all. When we align our lives with Him and live out His teachings, we become peacemakers in a world that desperately needs it. Jesus has already overcome the world. So, let’s take heart. Through Him, we can bring His PEACE into the chaos around us.

Prayer: ~ Dear Lord, thank You for the PEACE You offer in the middle of life’s challenges. Help us seek PEACE with You each day so that we can be instruments of PEACE in the world around us. Give us the courage to heal relationships, stand for justice, and pray for PEACE. ~ Amen
