Micah 7:7 "But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me."
Christmas time can quickly become a whirlwind of activity, with our desire for a peaceful, joyful celebration often being disrupted by the chaos of shopping, cooking, and managing family expectations. The pressure of it all can leave us feeling exhausted and drained, making it difficult to focus on the true meaning of the season.
We live in a world of instant gratification, where answers and solutions are just a click away. Yet, there are times when waiting is not only necessary, but also a powerful act of faith.
In Micah 7:7, the prophet declares, “I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.” This verse is a powerful reminder that even in uncertain times, God calls us to wait with hope and expectation, trusting that He will hear us.
Micah lived during a time of great turmoil, when Israel faced injustice, oppression, and uncertainty about the future. Yet, in the midst of this chaos, Micah chose to focus not on his circumstances, but on the HOPE he had in the Lord. He watched, anticipated, and waited with confidence, trusting that God would act on his behalf. Micah's words challenge us to do the same, to fix our eyes not on the problems and chaos around us, but on the Lord, the one who hears our prayers and is faithful to fulfill His promises.
Waiting on God is not passive; it is an active choice to trust Him, even when answers seem delayed or the path ahead feels unclear. Waiting with HOPE means placing our trust in God’s timing, His wisdom, and His love for us. It means believing that He is working on our behalf, even when we can't immediately see the results.
Micah's waiting was not passive, he waited with expectation. Just as a child eagerly anticipates a gift or an event, we too can wait with hearts full of HOPE, knowing that God will come through for us. His timing may not always match our expectations, but we can trust that it is always perfect.
Perhaps you find yourself in a season of waiting—waiting for healing, answers, reconciliation, or direction. In those moments, remember Micah’s words: “I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.” God sees you. He hears you. He is at work, even when you cannot see it. Trust in His unfailing love, and wait in HOPE.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for the promise that You hear my prayers and are with me in every season. Help me to watch in HOPE and wait in faith, trusting that Your plans for me are good. Give me the strength to wait patiently, knowing that You are always working for me. I place my trust in Your perfect timing and look forward with HOPE to the ways You will answer ~ Amen.
