My Vision, Jesus’s Way

And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ ~ Philippians 1:6

Let’s be honest, growth is messy. It’s uncomfortable, unpredictable, and usually not as fast as we’d like it to be. We want the before-and-after moments, not the in-between. But Philippians 1:6 reminds us of something powerful:

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

That means God’s not done with you yet. He started something good and He’s going to finish it.

The problem is, we often expect instant transformation. We want to wake up one morning with unshakable faith, perfect patience, or flawless discipline. But God’s process of growth looks more like a slow build - small steps of obedience, lessons learned through failure, and grace woven through every moment.

When we talk about having a growth mindset in education or leadership, we mean believing that we can learn, change, and improve through effort. Spiritually, it’s the same thing, but with divine assurance. Jesus didn’t just plant a seed of potential in you and walk away; He’s cultivating it. He’s the master teacher who believes in your ability to grow because He designed you to.

But here’s the challenge: growth requires participation. We can’t sit still and expect God to do all the work while we coast. He calls us to engage, to use our gifts, stretch our comfort zones, and step into the spaces where faith meets action.

Maybe that means forgiving someone. Maybe it’s finally starting the thing you’ve been putting off. Maybe it’s using your voice, your creativity, your empathy to lift someone else up.

Challenge: Ask yourself, Where am I resisting growth because it feels uncomfortable?

Growth isn’t about perfection - it’s about progress. And every small, faithful step forward is part of the good work God is completing in you.

So this week, let’s lean into that. Let’s stop doubting whether we’re “good enough” or “ready enough.” God already decided you were worth working on and He’s not finished yet.

Three Action Steps for the Week:

1. Reflect: Spend 10 minutes journaling about one area where you sense God calling you to grow. Be honest, what’s holding you back? Then, write down one small action you can take this week to move forward.

2. Reframe: When you catch yourself thinking, “I can’t do this” or “I’ll never change,” pause and remind yourself: “God’s not done with me yet.” Speak truth over yourself. Progress takes time, but His promises are steady.

3. Reach Out: Use one of your God-given gifts - encouragement, creativity, kindness, listening - to intentionally bless someone this week. Growth becomes real when we use what God’s given us to serve others.

Dear Lord ~ Thank You for starting a good work in me. I know You’re not finished yet, and I’m so grateful that You’re patient with me as I grow. Help me to trust Your process, even when I can’t see what You’re doing. Give me strength and courage to keep a growth mindset, to see challenges as chances to learn and become more like You. ~ Amen
