My Vision, Jesus’s Way
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” – 1 Peter 4:10
A few years ago, I watched a teacher quietly change the culture of her school, not with big speeches or fancy programs, but with faithfulness. She had a simple gift for encouragement. Every morning, she’d write one note of gratitude to a colleague, a student, or a parent. Just one. Over time, those notes sparked a chain reaction of kindness and connection. Her gift, used responsibly, became a ministry.
That’s what Peter meant when he said we’re called to be good stewards of God’s grace. Stewardship isn’t about ownership, it’s about responsibility. God has entrusted each of us with something sacred: our time, our talents, our relationships, and our opportunities. Using those gifts isn’t optional; it’s an act of faithfulness.
Each of us has been uniquely designed by God with gifts that don’t look like anyone else’s. Maybe yours is encouragement, creativity, or the ability to listen deeply. Whatever your gift, it matters. Our job is to recognize it, nurture it, and use it to serve others. Because when we do, even the smallest act becomes something sacred, an expression of God’s grace at work through us.
Responsibility in our gifts means we don’t bury them in fear or comparison. We develop them. We use them with integrity. We remember that every ability we have—big or small—is meant to serve others and point back to Christ. Faithfulness with your gift today could be the very thing God uses to bless someone tomorrow.
Three Action Steps for this week:
1. Recognize your gift. Ask God, “What have You trusted me with in this season?” Write it down and thank Him for it.
2. Take responsibility. Don’t wait for the “perfect moment” - start using your gift right where you are, with what you have.
3. Serve with purpose. Look for one person this week who could be encouraged, helped, or uplifted through your gift.
Take a moment today to ask yourself: What has God placed in my hands, and how can I use it to make someone’s world a little brighter?
Dear Lord ~ Thank You for entrusting me with gifts that reflect Your grace. Help me to take responsibility for how I use them, to serve, to love, and to honor You. Teach me to be faithful in small things, courageous in big things, and humble in all things. May my gifts bring light to others and glory to You ~ Amen.
