My Vision, Jesus’s Way

These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. ~ John 15:11

As we move through this season and count down the days to Christmas, we’re reminded that waiting isn’t wasted time. It’s a season full of hope. Advent gives us permission to slow down, take a breath, and remember that God’s greatest gift didn’t arrive with noise or flash, but quietly, wrapped in humility and love.

Jesus puts it this way:

“These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” — John 15:11

The joy Jesus offers isn’t tied to packed calendars, perfect plans, or everything going smoothly. It’s a steady, lasting joy that settles in our hearts simply because He is with us. As we look forward to celebrating His birth, we’re invited not just to receive that joy, but to let it spill over into the lives of the people around us. Joy grows when it’s shared.

This week, as you get your heart ready for Christmas, take a moment to think about simple, real ways you can live out—and pass along—the fullness of Christ’s joy.

Three Simple Ways to Share Joy This Week

  1. Speak life on purpose - Say the encouraging thing out loud. Send a quick text, write a short note, or tell someone what you appreciate about them. You never know how much a few kind words can lift someone who’s running on empty.

  2. Be fully present - Slow down and really be there. Put your phone away, make eye contact, and listen without rushing the moment. Feeling truly heard is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give.

  3. Choose small acts of kindness - Look for easy, everyday ways to help—hold the door, drop off a meal, lend a hand, or do something kind without needing credit. Joy has a way of growing when love shows up in action.

Dear Lord ~ Thank You for the joy we have because of Your Son. As we wait and get ready to celebrate His birth, help us slow down and really feel that joy in our hearts. Let it show up in the way we talk, the way we treat people, and the love we share each day. May that joy spill over and gently point others back to You. ~ Amen
