The ARRIVAL ~ A Christmas Devotional - Day 8
Psalm 29:11 ~ The Lord blesses his people with peace. As we celebrate Christmas, let’s pause and remember the moment when true PEACE entered the world. The birth of Jesus in a humble stable brought the long-awaited Savior of PEACE to a broken and weary world. In the midst of all the holiday chaos and the busyness of life, we’re invited to experience PEACE that doesn’t depend on what’s happening around us, but on the presence of Christ in our lives. Psalm 29:11 reminds us that PEACE is a gift from God. It’s not something we can create or earn. It’s a blessing that comes directly from God’s heart to His people. This PEACE goes beyond just the absence of conflict—it’s about wholeness, well-being, and harmony with God, others, and ourselves. Christmas is a reminder that PEACE isn’t just a distant dream for the future, but a real gift we can experience now, through Jesus. He is the fulfillment of God’s promise of PEACE. When we welcome Him into our hearts, we receive the kind of PEACE only He can give, a PEACE that calms our fears, heals our wounds, and restores our souls. This Christmas, let’s reflect on the true gift of PEACE Jesus brings. In the midst of shopping, celebrations, and all the noise, may we find time to pause and embrace the PEACE that’s ours in Christ. In Him, we find rest for our weary hearts, joy in our spirits, and the assurance that God’s PEACE is with us always. Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for the gift of PEACE that came with the birth of Jesus. Help us to receive and share that PEACE with others, especially during this season. May Your PEACE fill our hearts and overflow to those around us ~ Amen
My Vision, Jesus's Way Week 49
“I leave you peace. It is my own peace I give you. I give you peace in a different way than the world does. So don’t be troubled. Don’t be afraid.” ~ John 14:27 Christmas is supposed to be the “season of peace,” but let’s be real for a second, December can feel more like a chaotic blender than a peaceful manger. Crowded stores, endless plans, family tension, work deadlines, and that pressure to be merry on command… yeah, peace isn’t always the vibe. But Jesus isn’t offering that flimsy, seasonal, peppermint-scented “peace” the world sells us. He gives a peace that doesn’t crack under pressure, disappear with the wrapping paper, or depend on perfect circumstances. His peace has weight. Backbone. Staying power. Jesus basically says, “My peace hits different.” Christmas isn’t peaceful because everything is perfect, it's peaceful because Peace Himself showed up in the middle of a mess: a teenage mom, a skeptical fiancé, no room at the inn, political chaos, and a birth in a barn. God isn’t allergic to chaos; He steps right into it. So if life feels loud, scattered, or heavy right now, don’t panic. You’re actually in the perfect place to experience the kind of peace Jesus gives. Three Actionable Steps for This Week: 1. Choose a “Silent Night Moment” each day. Pick a small window of quiet - five minutes counts. No phone. No music. No notifications. Just breathe and say, “Jesus, I receive Your peace.” Let Him reset you before the world revs you back up. 2. Lay down one thing that has you tangled. What’s stealing your peace? A worry? A plan? A person? Name it, and pray out loud: “Jesus, I surrender this to You today.” Peace grows where control gets released. 3. Do one thing that makes space for joy. Joy and peace tag-team. Watch a cheesy Christmas movie, take a drive to look at lights, call someone who makes you laugh - something small that reminds you life isn’t just a grind. Dear Lord ~ Thank You for offering a peace the world can’t produce and circumstances can’t destroy. As we walk into this week and this Christmas season, help us trade our stress, fears, and expectations for Your steady peace. Quiet our spirits, guard our hearts, and remind us that You are with us, Emmanuel, God with us. Fill our days with Your presence and our hearts with Your peace. ~ Amen.
