Luke 14: 11-12 ~ “But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes he may say to you, ‘Friend, go up higher.’ Then you will have glory in the presence of those who sit at the table with you. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

There is something wonderful about being content in whatever place God allows you to have. Jesus said “sit in the lowest place”, sit in the back, take a place of less significance, take a lower place, and let God move you up.

Jesus wasn’t only teaching good manners, but illustrating that we should be of humble mind seeing others better than ourselves.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves ~ Philippians 2:3

“For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted”. Jesus was the perfect one to teach on this subject, because He fulfilled it perfectly.

Jesus is the ultimate example of someone who deserved the highest place, but took the lowest place, and was granted the highest place ~ Philippians 2:5-11

As a Christian it brings confidence knowing that God has raised you up, instead of you raising yourself up to a perceived level of prominence.
