My Vision ~ Jesus’s Way

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things ~ Colossians 3:2

Focus is one of the most powerful forces in life. It shapes how we spend our time, how we respond to challenges, and what direction we move in. Colossians 3:2 gives us clear guidance: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

This verse is a call to lift our gaze, to think beyond the distractions and pressures of everyday life. It reminds us that our ultimate purpose and peace are found not in the temporary but in the eternal. When our minds are consumed by worry, comparison, material success, or the noise of this world, our spiritual vision gets clouded.

God invites us to focus on Him. His character, His promises, and His kingdom. That shift in perspective doesn’t mean we ignore our daily responsibilities; it means we approach them with a clearer, Jesus centered mindset. With our eyes on what matters most, we find strength, clarity, and peace.

Three Actionable Steps to Sharpen Your Spiritual Focus:

1. Start Your Day with Intentional Time with God - Begin each morning by grounding yourself in God’s presence. Through a Bible verse, prayer, or quiet reflection. This simple rhythm helps redirect your focus upward before the noise of the day sets in.

2. Take an “Awe Walk” - Step outside and intentionally look for God's hand in creation. Whether it’s a quiet trail, a city park, your own neighborhood, or your backyard, let your senses be filled with awe. Notice the sky, the breeze, the color, the stillness. Use that time to speak with God and thank Him for His beauty and peace.

3. Limit Distractions That Compete for Your Mind - Pay attention to what’s pulling your focus away from spiritual things, social media, constant news, busyness, and take a break from one of them this week. Replace that time with something that reconnects you to God.

Keep your heart steady and your mind focused by keeping your eyes on what’s eternal.

Dear Lord ~ Help me to set my mind on You today. Quiet the noise and clutter that distracts me from Your truth. Thank You for the beauty of creation and the peace that comes when I fix my eyes on You. Teach me to live with an eternal mindset, focused not on what’s fading, but on what lasts forever. ~ Amen
