The ARRIVAL ~ A Christmas Devotional - Day 24
Hebrews 10:24 – "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds." At Christmas, we celebrate the greatest gift ever given—Jesus Christ, whose LOVE and grace transformed the world. This season invites us to focus on the wonder of God’s presence and express that joy through our actions. Hebrews 10:24 encourages us to think about how we can inspire others toward LOVE and good deeds, especially during this season of giving. Children often exemplify the pure joy, excitement, and generosity that Christmas brings. Whether they’re admiring tree lights, imagining the story of Jesus’ birth, or eagerly anticipating the joy of giving and receiving, children approach the season with awe. Their embrace of Christmas reminds us to reflect on how we, too, can experience the season with a heart full of wonder and LOVE. One of the most childlike things we can do this season is to approach it with a heart of awe, appreciating the truth that God became a child for us, bringing light into a dark world. When we let ourselves be filled with wonder, we become more aware of the needs of others. We start to see people as God sees them, which inspires us to act with LOVE and generosity. This Christmas, let’s consider how we can spur one another on toward LOVE and good deeds. Let’s approach the holiday with the heart of a child, open, joyful, and full of wonder. Through our actions, let’s inspire others and share the LOVE of Christ with everyone we meet. May this Christmas be filled with LOVE, joy, and good deeds! Prayer: Dear Lord, help me embrace the wonder of this season with the joy of a child. May my actions reflect Your LOVE and inspire others to LOVE and do good. Remind me to consider the needs of those around me and inspire them toward LOVE and good deeds. Thank You for the gift of Jesus, whose life and LOVE are the ultimate example of giving. ~ Amen
The ARRIVAL ~ A Christmas Devotional - Day 23
As we get together with friends and family this Christmas, it's a great time to pause and think about what Jesus meant when He said in John 15:12, “This is my commandment, that you LOVE one another as I have loved you.” Christmas is all about LOVE and giving, and it’s a perfect reminder for us to live out this command in the way we treat those around us. When we think about how Jesus loved us, we realize His LOVE was sacrificial and unconditional. He showed us the ultimate example of LOVE by laying down His life for us. He says in the next verse, “Greater LOVE has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13). This Christmas, as we hang out with friends and loved ones, we're called to do the same, to show LOVE in real, tangible ways. It's not just about words or gifts; it's about showing LOVE through our actions. Loving others well goes beyond just exchanging presents or enjoying a nice meal together. It’s about showing God’s LOVE in ways that matter most. By being kind, listening to someone who needs it, or forgiving someone who hurt us we demonstrate God’s LOVE. In John 15:14, Jesus says, “You are my friends if you do what I command.” When we LOVE as Jesus loved us, we not only follow His command, but we also show the world the kind of LOVE God has for all of us. This Christmas, let’s remember that loving others well isn’t just for the holiday season; it’s a way of life. Let’s be willing to go all in for our friends, showing them Christ’s LOVE in everything we do. By living this way, we reflect God’s LOVE and help others experience the hope and joy Christmas brings. Prayer: Dear Lord, Thank You for the amazing LOVE You’ve shown us through Jesus. As we gather with our friends and family this Christmas, help us to LOVE each other the way You LOVE us. Fill our hearts with compassion, and help us put others first, just like Jesus did for us. May our LOVE reflect Your grace, and may we be kind and give mercy to everyone around us. ~ Amen
